The Catholic Church is rich with many spiritual traditions

Benedictine, Ignatian, Carmelite,

Dominican, Franciscan, and more.

Each order offers a unique way of living the one faith we profess.

This site does not belong to any single tradition.

Instead, it draws from the shared heart of Catholic life:

the belief that God reveals Himself through creation,

reason, the senses, and the quiet work of grace.

Here, anyone can find a home, and every tradition can find its place within the unity of the Church.

The Catholic faith begins with the mystery we profess in the Creed, the foundation of everything we believe and live.

Read the Creed at the USCCB

The Apostles’ Creed is an early, concise summary of Christian belief, traditionally linked to the Church’s earliest catechesis.

The Nicene Creed is a more detailed profession of faith developed by the early councils to clarify

the divinity of Christ and the nature of the Trinity.

Both express the same faith, but the Nicene Creed expands key doctrines to address early controversies.

Since this page introduces tradition you may wonder what about the Bible. Many verses in the Bible refer to traditions:

2 Thessalonians 2:15

“So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.”

This verse is the foundation for the Catholic understanding that the faith is handed on in two modes:

Spoken word → Sacred Tradition

Letter → Sacred Scripture

Paul places equal authority on both.

Additional verses from the bible:

1 Corinthians 11:2

“I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you”

Paul praises the Church for keeping the apostolic traditions he handed on — not all of which were written down.

2 Timothy 2:2

“What you have heard from me … entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

This shows a four‑generation chain of oral transmission, which is the essence of Sacred Tradition.

2 Thessalonians 2:15

“Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.*”
